Salvation Animal Rescue was formed in September of 2016 by a group of ladies who were passionate about animal welfare. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that strives to reduce the number of unwanted animals in our community. We help accomplish this by not only pulling animals from kill shelters but also by providing low-cost spay/neuter vouchers monthly through our S.N.I.P.S. program which began in March of 2018. These vouchers are sold for $35.00 to anyone in Angelina County regardless of income. Today we have been able to help spay/neuter over 500 dogs and cats. We also provide bi-yearly vaccinations and microchipping clinics for the community. We hope to educate the public about the need to foster and rehabilitate dogs rescued from shelters so that they have a chance to live a joyful life in a safe and loving home. It is through community support and donations that we can continue to accomplish our mission and grow this organization.

Our Mission

Salvation Animal Rescue believes our responsibility to animals, as well as our community, is vital and all lives have value. As an organization, we strive to make a significant difference in the lives of people and animals in Lufkin and the surrounding areas. This is accomplished by rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming animals as well as providing education about responsible pet ownership, population control, animal abuse, and neglect. We give voices to animals who are unable to speak for themselves.

Our rescued animals are placed in the loving arms of responsible, committed, caring, foster homes and eventually permanent forever homes, following a thorough foster and/or adoption process. Animals in our care receive appropriate veterinary care, up to date vaccinations and are spayed or neutered prior to adoption unless they are too young (in this case the animal will be scheduled for the spay or neuter at the appropriate time).  All animals are tested for temperament and behavior issues so potential adopters are aware of their needs. We assist animals in distress regardless of age, breed, size or ease of placement within our financial and emotional limits. We work in the community to improve and strengthen the relationship between humans and animals.
